Recipe: swedish sweet bread

Hello lovelies!

I hope everyone is just fine. I am having 1.5 weeks off work ahead of me… And I am already bored. Boooh! That’s the way I always feel when I don’t have to work. I think work makes me feel „worth“ and when I am off for more than just a weekend…. I feel worthless. No lie. I guess I have to change that!

A while ago I was baking swedish sweet bread and wanted to share the recipe with you, my lovely readers, especially with  Kirsten who asked for the recipe when she saw a picture I posted on instagram.

This bread is perfect for the holidays and tastes SO yummy!

1/4 l milk
100 g margarine
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
75 g sugar
1 teaspoon (or more ^^) cinnamon
1 package active dry yeast
500 g flour
1  table spoon water
1 dash salt
1 table spoon sugar
20 g choked almonds

In a sauce pan, heat the milk and add the margarine to melt in the hot milk. Add ONE egg, stir strongly. Then add 1/4 tea spoon salt and 75 g sugar. In a bowl, mix dry yeast, cinnamon and flour – now,  slowly add the milk-mixture. Stir until everything is well mixed. Flour the „work space“, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is all soft and smooth. Now, brush a bowl with some oil or margarine and put the dough inside. Cover with clean kitchen towel and put in a warm place, let rise 40 minutes.

After the 40 minutes: Knead the dough again, form a bread and put on a baking sheet. (Layered with baking paper) Cover with a towel and put in a warm place again, for about 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 200 °C. Mix the other egg with the water and the dash of salt. Apply to the bread. Cover the bread with the tablespoon of sugar and the almonds and bake the whole yummy bread for 30 minutes!

This seriously is one of the most delicious sweet breads I have ever had the pleasure to taste. SO good! If you have any questions – let me know!

Happy baking!
