Tuesday reads – Das Wunder der Unschuld / Pay it forward

Hello there and happy tuesday!

tuesday reads

Todays‘ book is one of my favorites. I actually got it as a birthday present when I was 14 years old. But it wasn’t until I was 17 that I read it. You know, some stories need patience and maybe I needed to „grow“ into the story.

It is called:

Das Wunder der Unschuld / Pay it Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde

I am pretty sure you all know this story already, later it became a movie called „Pay it Forward“ (Das Gluecksprinzip) with Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and the little genius Harley Joel Osment (he’s the kid from „The Sixth Sense“ and „I, Robot“).

The story:

Trevor McKinney, a twelve-year-old boy, accepts his social studies teacher’s challenge to come up with a plan to change the world. His idea is very simple: Do a good deed for three people and ask them to „pay it forward“ to three others who need help. Soon, the thought spread through the town and the whole country.

Is it worth reading?

It took me 3 years to find out it totally is worth reading! Such a moving story about how simple things could change a nation. Of course it is also sad and I might have cried a lot because sometimes life is not great at all…. but I have learned a lot about giving and sharing and being kind.

Definitely a book that belongs in your collection!
